[Overview]
Smile&Wave is a personal project I started when I was teaching myself American Sign Language (ASL). This platform concept hopes to connect beginner signers to the deaf community, exposing them to both learning opportunities and cultural immersion.
As the sole creator and designer of this project, I performed an end-to-end design process from initial user research to high-fidelity prototyping.
[Context]
Learning sign language can prove to be a difficult feat for many as opposed to their spoken language counterparts. Because ASL comes from a much smaller and more marginalized community, resources for practice opportunities and language exposure are scarce.
